Final word on lower unit oil? 1973 65HP Evinrude Outboard

Hey all! Just one other question I figured I'd post in a separate thread. We have an Evinrude 65HP 1973 65373R outboard. We want to change out the lower unit oil but aren't sure which variety to use. We have a copy of the original service manual which actually says to use "type C" lower unit oil, and we've sen type C lower unit oil at West Marine but when we went to buy it, they said it was highly unlikely that it was the kind of oil we needed... so I'm wondering if "today's" Type C oil is different from 1973's Type C oil...??

Or do we need 80w-90 or 90w oil? We're not sure what oil to use b/c we're not sure what kind of shift mechanism this outboard has...

Thank you again!!

Pete

EDIT: Your motor is "Powershift", not Electric shift nor Hydro-electric shift, both if which require Type C. OMC said to use Type C in your Powershift motor because that is what they made at that time. But 80-90 will be OK, maybe even better.
