My 2016 Mercury 40 4stroke 3 cylinder will intermittently lose power and I can’t figure out why. I’ll open her up and she runs great, but occasionally when I pull back on the throttle she won’t respond when I try to open back up. It’s like it goes into guardian mode but there are no engine alarms and no faults on my VesselView. If I turn off the engine and immediately turn it back on, she starts right up and the power issue vanishes. Runs perfect again
The fuel bulb is firm, fuel filter clean. Spark plugs are new and properly gapped. Only use Rec fuel. I did have an issue with my voltage regulator not functioning when I first got the motor and it’s the reason I bought the VesselView. Changed the regulator and my voltage is fine now and no alarms, but can it be that high voltage damaged a sensor? I just wouldn’t know which one to look at. Me and my buddies are stumped.
