OMC Replacements.

Hi, guys. New member here, but I'm impressed with the quality and quantity of the help here, already!
Quick question.
I have twin 1975 OMC inboards on my Houseboat, which I recently purchased,and I need to replace the fuel pumps on both.
I'm told that I have to use Volvo Fuel Pumps because they are the ones that replaced OMC.
Is that correct?

What engine? If they are GM small blocks then they are probably Carter Marine fuel pumps that OMC bought from Carter; Volvo and Merc did the same thing. The task is to figure out which one it is. Carter has an online catalog and I was able to figure out which pump is for my ‘88 4.3 V6 and it was cheaper that if I got it from either OMC Volvo or Merc. Looked up the Carter part # and found it at Jeg’s.
