My outboard cranks fine, idles alright, but when put it into gear (f or r) it dies instantly. This is the first time I’ve ran it in 4 months. Last time I ran it it wouldn’t run at full power. It’s RPM would fluctuate up and down at full throttle. Anyway, after several months of sitting it will die when I engage f or r. Any ideas at what might be the problem? Can’t afford to take it to a shop.
 
When cleaning that carburetor be sure to clean the passage in the bottom of the bowl that feeds the accelerator pump and ABS chamber.
