M70B help identify this part/purpose

Hello All!

I've used this board many times but never needed to post/join till now. Question for the experts, what's the purpose of the connecting tubes on the intake plate before the Reeds?

I believe they are called ----" balance tubes "-----Normally not a part to worry about.------Problems with you carburetors ?------Problems with your motor ?

No problems at all. I am just trying to understand the purpose, curious why you need them, before the reeds after the carbs? Maybe to make up for small difference in carb syncing? I thought maybe they were for a primer system if installed or something.
 
Must admin ive always wondered to as on my M90a and looked quite perished so I replaced with some new vacuum hose but always wondered what they did.
