Yama f40BET trim gauge problem

Hi everybody.

I have an old Yamaha F40BET
My trim gauge is always (when key is turn on contact or engine is working) showing 3/4 up
When off, its fully down
I have tried pushing the lever on the sender unit by hand but nothing is changing on the gauge

I would really appreciate any advice on where to start from on fixing it

Disconnect the sender at its coupler. Connect a multi-meter to the two sender leads with the meter set on the ohms scale. With the sender arm at one end of its travel you should see ~ 9 - 11 ohms. At the other end you should see ~ 238 - 378 ohms.

If the sender is out of spec it should be replaced. If within spec I would inspect the wiring from the coupler and then into the main wire harness.
