Fitting for outboard gas tank question

I have a duratank 6 gallon outboard gas tank for my Mercury 25hp 1998. The hose fitting for the tank end got ripped out of the tank and lost. I can't figure out what kind of fitting will work for it, or if maybe something broke off the tank fitting. If something broke off that would explain why I can't get any fitting to work on it.

Here's a picture of the tank fitting. Can you tell if there's a piece missing, or advise me on what kind of fitting I need? I'll ask here before buying either a new tank fitting -- if I can find out what it takes -- or a new tank. Thanks --

Earlier posts indicate you owned an Evinrude.-----Model # of your motor ?

Right early single line OMC here. This is a decent version of plastic tank. The pin looks too small to be a later version OMC.

Sorry, I meant Evinrude... E25TELECB. My last motor, which was stolen, was a Mariner/Mercury.
