my md5

A diesel needs fuel and heat (or enough compression to raise the air temp to above 500°F). In cold weather an older engine may not have enough compression to raise the temperature inside the cylinder to ignition temperature. (Air escaping past the rings or valves) A block heater, pan heater or even a hair dryer pointing in the intake will help the engine reach ignition temperature.
Fuel also has to be reaching the injector. Air in the lines and filters needs to be bled out. The injector tubes need to contain only fuel. Otherwise air in the tubes will compress instead of forcing fuel thru the injector.
