Noise in Mariner

I have a Mariner Offshore 115hp which has developed a tapping sound, particularly when at idle. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would remove the exhaust cover on the side of the block.------About 20 bolts.----Allows you to see pistons & rings.

Sounds like skirt on piston has broken...common problem on these if ran above recommended RPM
