J6RCRM 6hp Check Valve

Ok, I give up, 2 Honey Jack Daniels later and a lot of blank starring whilst my mind is trying to process nothingness, I have come to the conclusion that the little brass check valve[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Roboto Regular, Geneva, Lucida Grande, Helvetica Neue, sans-serif](385111)[/FONT] in the bottom of the Leaf Plate serves no useful purpose as it simply sits inside an enclosed gasketed ( is there such a word?) hole in the lower edge of the Inlet manifold and cannot do anything?

Correct me if I'm wrong but what does it do apart from just "being there"

Is there a hole in the block that lines up there ?----Ever hear of an " oil recirculation system " on a 2 stroke motor ?
