I just got an older 7.5 with no manual and want to know what gear oil it should take?

I'd recommend Lubriplate 105 grease. The seals may not hold oil.

What year is it? post the ser.Nr. any motor from the mid-60's used gear oil for outboards.

The 1974 models left the factory with oil in them.-----What did the old oil look like ?---Any water in the gear oil ?
