First it is model 1352256
L362mk00645
C-2-55

Got this motor off a junk pile and applied power to the 2 tabs and both forward and reverse worked. Had to stop due to the light wires getting too hot.
Looks like it uses a plug in cable but I can't explain how power gets to the tabs.
Can someone please explain? Thanks.

after looking at some videos I may be able to use jumper cables and put connector ends on them. Might have to drill a hole in the bottom cover to route them. Does anyone have a better idea?

If what you have is a MinnKota trolling motor, the power leads usually connect to the switch, in the 'head' at the top of the tube. The leads pass thru the bottom housing of the head.

As far as using "jumper cables", they may last but will have a relatively short service life. What would be much better would be marine rated wire, with appropriate size based on your installation, terminated with the proper crimped on ends. you should be able to get the owner's manual doing a google search.
