Carburetor leaking gas

We have a 1985 30 HP Mariner leaking gas from where the red circle is. We just put the screw you there but hoping someone can help tell me if that is normal or if something should go there. Is this where he Jet pilot goes or is that below.

That is likely the vent for the float bowl.-----The fuel in the carburetor needs atmospheric pressure on it.-----Do not plug that hole.-----Your float and float valve need attention / service / repair.
