P T & T Question

During the course of the season, I noticed my stb engine trim not soiunding "right" when reaching the full up position.
While removing the lower uniuts for maintainence today I noticed while tilted up part way I could raise the engine by hand more and watch the piston move in the cylinder, I also noticed I could push down on the engine while tilted up part way and I could get downward movement.
I'm thinking the system needs to be bled........if so, how do I go about it?

TIA!

1995 Johnson Twin 175's.

The units are self bleeding... nothing to do there.

Check to see that the manual release valve is seated snugly.

Check to see that the reservoir is completely full when the engine is tilted all the way up.

If the two above check points are as they should be, a internal leakage exists of which is too complex to go through here. Best to have a qualified shop check it out.

Perhaps there is some water contamination. Salt water motors probably, eh? If so, have you been maintaining anodes?
