Lower unit swap 1981 Johnson 35

I’m thinking about getting a new lower unit and it doesn’t come with a drive shaft, I’m wondering if I’d need to take the prop shaft apart to connect the pinion and drive shaft?
 
No need to take lower unit apart.-----Driveshaft slides out.------Slides in with a turn to engage splines in the pinion gear.
