I have repowered my boat with 2015 mercury 50 four stroke. Used 14 pin wiring harness with analog gauges. Everything is hooked up and seems to be reading and working correctly. I do however need about one more foot of slack in the harness to move towards the motor but I have three harness connectors that are too thick to pass through the wiring conduit in the hull. None of the connectors are being used and I don’t plan on adding anything to the connectors in the future.
one is an accessory plug and the others are CAN 1 (w/termination resistor) and CAN 3 connections.
if they are not being used can I just cut the connectors and cap the wires? See diagram attached with the connectors I’d like to cut.
I really don’t want to spend $100 on a 6’ extension if I only need one foot. Thanks!
