power trim problem

Customer said outdrive goes all the way up in reverse on alpha one. He has lots of equipment and mechanics so he does his own labor. We sold him 2 used cylinders because his looked so bad. Same problem still. We sold him a used pump. Same problem. Gave him another pump and then another pump...same problem. Boat is 1988 so it has no lock out valve on shift plate. It trims up and down ok but after it pulls itself up in rev it seems as tho it has air in the system until you cycle the pump a few times then works normal. Does not leak any Fluid. Boat is a push barge and big job to pull, so it was only out of water to replace cylinders. I cked the cylinders one at a time when we sold them to him no leaks or problems found. We have been in business 60 yr and seen a lot but this one takes the cake.

Set the drive where you want it for testing then unplug the power from the trim pump and retest. Sounds electrical.

I think you're thoughts are that when shifter is in rev that the up solenoid is somehow engaged. We will ck that but if thats the case l dont think it would act as tho it had air in the system every time it goes up in rev. Going to ck it this afternoon. Thanks for the input.
