I can't identify my motor bu serial number

I have not been able to identify my motor in any Mercury database, using the serial number.
The serial number is: 4389660

I have also indentified this number on the jug of the motor.

It's a 6 HP, need year to start to order some parts.

Any additional information is much appreciated!
 
I would say 1968.------Post a picture.------Red stripes all over it ?-----Most shops will demand the serial # to order parts.
 
The serial # puts it as a 1976 model.------The decals on the cowling tell me it is a 76 / 77 model.-----Not sure they marketed a 6 HP those years in my area.------Your location ?-----Any decal that says ---COMET -----on the block ?-----Any HP restricted lakes in your area ?-----It could well be a 7.5 or 9.8 with home made sticker for 6 HP.

No comet ... it has a mercarb that is way different then I am finding....
 
Hello !......And I have a problem!

It's a outboard Mariner Magnum 10 HP, 2 stroke, made in Belgium. Need year to start to order some parts.

Any additional information is much appreciated!

defectu, What does the decal in red say on the top cowling? Anything such as 10 HP Marathon, 10 HP Magnum, XR10 HP?..< Edit: Just saw it's a magnum engine...Here's a parts catalog for your engine model, http://www.marineengine.com/parts/mariner-outboard-parts/10-magnum/9596000-thru-9792199-bel
