Spark plug terminal comes off for these wires?

Bought new plugs and a Sierra ignition wire set for the boat engine, a 1962 Volvo Penta BB70. Ignition wires wouldn't go on over the plug terminals, but slipped on nicely after I unscrewed the terminals. I did a little Googling and found that some ignition wires are designed to slip directly over the threads in that way, so I guess I'm good.

Is there anything else I should have tried?

Thanks!

If you have the spark plug cable boot that requires the thread-on tip to be removed, then you should be OK.

However, keep in mind that not all spark plugs have a removable thread-on end terminal.
