1988 Johnson 15 HP Prop/Thrust washer problem

Howdy. I just got a new Solas aluminum prop for the 1988 Johnson 15 HP. The old prop was a Michigan Wheel prop. The thrust washer drops right into the hub easily on the old prop. On the new prop, it does not go all the way into the hub, even when pressing in with a vice (gently). Am I supposed to have to press it in? Do I have to buy the hardware kit from Solas that includes the nut, pin, spacer and thrust washer? Is sandpaper involved? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Solas part number is Solas Amita 3 Blade Aluminum 8P 2111-093-08. The prop that is on there is a Michigan Wheel prop, so the thrust washer may not be the factory washer.
 
Sure enough, the Solas prop required a Solas thrust washer. What a pain. Hopefully hitting the lake tomorrow! At least the kit came with several cotter keys. Thanks everyone.
