engine for boat help please

lots of give and take when buying and selling old stuff.
(are these engines known to crack in the block area a lot was it a common fault i was under the impression it was a freeze problem )
I am not following you on that one!

I was just asking a general question is the block on the 3Litre marine engine a known problem area?

None that would be of any more of a concern that what we would see with any other engine.

Avoid over-heating.
Keep the oil/filter clean.
Keep the engine in full tune.
Use the correct over-all drive reduction.
If Raw Water Cooled, drain it down completely for the winter, and you should be good to go!

Thats what i thought no real big concern as long as i look it over good and get good numbers from it i should be good to go Wats a good compression number for this engine Mike

Ayuh,...... 'bout 150 psi is new,....... 10% / 15% 'tween any 2 cylinders is probably more important,.......
