HELP - My 2013 Mercury 4 stroke, 4 hp failed to start for me the last time I was going out on the lake. On inspection, I discovered that it was seriously flooding - to the extent that fuel was dripping out of the carburetor intake. I removed the carb, checked float and needle and blew out all jets and other openings. All appeared in order. When I tried to start the motor again, it fired a few times and quit. Pulling on the cord a couple more times produced fuel dripping from the carb intake. After repeating this remove and inspect procedure twice with no improvement, I was baffled. I just tried a brand new carburetor and once again, it fired a few times and quit with fuel again dripping from carb intake.
Can anyone suggest to me what the problem might be? If it's not the carb, is it the fuel pump? I have not inspected it. Is it possible that it is producing too much pressure and defeating the float and needle metering?
Thank you for any suggestions.
