Long to Short shaft swap...

Hi...Thanks for having me here & for your suggestions. I have a 2008 Yamaha 25hp 2 cycle long shaft motor with electric start & remote shift & want to convert it to a short shaft. I'm looking at a 2007 Yamaha 25hp 2 cycle short shaft motor with pull start & tiller controls. Will this short shaft unit bolt up to my powerhead considering the shifting mechanism is different?
 
Hi....thanks for your insight on this. I was looking for a repair manual that may give more detail on this, and am having a difficult time locating one. It is for a 2008 Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke. So if I have an entire parts motor that is a short shaft even with the tiller & shifting on opposite side of motor, it should work?
