As some of you may remember I've had trouble with this engine all season. First I was told fuel line collapsing Lasted one trip then mechanic wouldn't return my calls.

Than I found main harness plug full of gunk. Cleaned ran for 20 hours then wouldn't start. So I took the boat to a shop after waiting 3 weeks. On Friday I tried to start it when pulling out of the water it didn't start. The shop called today said it started right up. no codes showing except oil shut code. The only thing they noticed the alternator was warmer than normal. This makes me think there mabe a problem in the wiring harness

Any other ideas

That's little to go on without more diagnostics. An overheated alternator can be caused by a bunch of things - loose/corroded battery connections, corroded main power cables (inside the covering), bad grounds, bad bearings, and on and on. It's a process of elimination.

JGMO (Jimmy) might jump in here since he has a lot of expertise diagnosing electrical issues.
