Default 40 mercury outboard control cable adjustments?

I got a 2006 40 mercury 4 stroke outboard just mounted on my boat. I turn the prop by hand and it clicks when in neutral. So when I pull it a touch back towards reverse the clicking goes away. Anyone know how I could adjust the cables to stop it from
making that sound? Also when running in neutral you can hear a light clicking but will go away like I said above when I pull it a touch to the reverse . Any help would be great thanks guys

The clicking in F is normal, but your shifter is not centered properly in N. Readjust the shifter to get more R.
