I'm looking for advice on a tach that will work with my J35ELCSM and where to tap into the electrical to make it work.

Thanks in advance
Brandon

You need a tach that works off a signal from the alternator. That more or less is the standard, so plenty to choose from. Set it to 5 pulses per revolution.

If you have the stock instrument cable, look for a grey tachometer wire near the ignition switch. That is the signal wire. And of course connect the grond wire to ground. If no grey wire make your signal conection at the rectifier on the engine. Any of the yellow wires, preferrably yellow with grey stripe if it exists.

Thanks fdrgator

My harness is pretty stripped down and hacked up, but I found the rectifier in the manual and was able to locate it. Learning as I go..
