swapping long and short shaft

I would like to swap the following complete lower units of a long and short shaft. Both units look identical (form the outside at least) other than their length

Tohatsu 3AC?MFS30B (long shaft)
Serial# 010225AB

Nissan NSF30A (short shaft)
Serial# 30726

The LU for the MFS30A, B, and C will interchange. Remember that the drive shaft, shifter, and water pipe are different lengths. Paint colors may vary, depending on vintage.

Hi thank you, I just wanted some clarification I understand you're saying the Tohatsu complete lower unit will fit the Nissan but will the Nissan complete lower unit fit the Tohatsu?

No, all Nissans are rebadged Tohatsus. The LU's will interchange, but colors may be different.
