Trouble with a 1988 40LG 2 stroke

Good Morning all.....have a bit of trouble with my new to me Yami.

after a day on the Bay, we returned to find that on of the ears had broken off the lower mount.

most parts resources list this part as unavailable, but we lucked out and found on Ebay. Perfect match.

But when we went to remove the old broken one...found some roadblocks

1. the shift rod that comes through the spline has a union right there at the lower mount....Not sure how to get the mount off without clearing this.

2. doe's motor need to be lifted off the mounts to do this repair?

What do you mean by an "ear"? What is the part number?

part number 6H4-44551-01-EK....Housing lower mount

the ear of which I speak.......kinda cradles the drive leg but doesn't touch it....the bolts the attach the mount to the leg are very close to these ears. (one on each side)

Attempted to replace on Friday, epic failure! it appears that the motor has to lifted off the bracket or the whole drive leg has to come off.

Anyone done either of these task??

not sure what to do next ....maybe a tempo weld on the broken one ?
