Oil slick in water

My 40 hp Force just started leaving a bit of an oil slick in the water when I first start it up. It also seems like I am getting smoke more so than usual when I start it cold. Once it warms up it seems fine. No other engine issues that I can tell. Looking for ideas on what to check. Thanks in advance.

Running the motor on the hose, or prolonged idleing can cause excess smoke.
Some of the better oils, have less smoke but you decide weather the price is worth it.
Hard starting can cause excess smoke.
Using the choke can cause the sheen and smoke.
It dumps extra fuel mix staraight into the motor, not all of it gets burned.

Check the lower unit for water?
You have T@T? sometimes they can leak.

Thanks for the fast response. There's no water in the lower unit. What is T@T? I am not familiar with that term. I did have to choke it a couple of time to get it started yesterday. I will keep a close eye on it. I don't want to pollute the water. I also didn't realize there was a difference in oils. What should I be looking for to tell what's a better grade?
Thanks again.

T@T trim and tilt, has oil to make the system work.

The better low ash oils, Amsol or Mercury or Yamaha
They cost a lot more than the WalMart brand.
They're supposed to smoke less but you pay for it, $38 gallon Amsol
compared to $12 at WalMart

With Amsol they say you can use 50% less?
