Is there room for more top speed?

Hello

I think I will ask someone experienced on this one. I have a 2000 capri 1950, 3.0 merc I/O, the fastest I ever got it to go was 30mph. to me that seems stupidly low. boat weight is 2075 lbs.

Is your engine producing it's rated power , yes or no ?------Have motor tested on a dynamometer.-----Is boat waterlogged ?----It takes a lot of power to move a boat.----What speed do you think it should go ?
 
I think the motor is making the right power. If I dont watch out it will readily pass 4400 rpm and go past 5k (never done this tho luckily). it gains about 10 mph in the 4000 - 4400 rpm range. I feel like the prop is too small. I will check what it has right now.
 
Ayuh,..... Prop it to run 4600/ 4800 rpms at wot, neatly trimmed,......

That's the fastest it's capable of, with the horsepower available,.....
