2009 90 EFI dropping RPM’s

Hello! I’m having issues with my 2009 90EFI.. took it out the other day, started great, idles great, got out of the marina no problem, started to bring up the RPM’s to get her up on step, and at about 3500 rpm, she started to drop rpm’s randomly, then pick up again.. got it to my max rpm of 6000, then she would drop to 5k and back up to 6k.. I ended up trolling for hours without issue, then when it came time to head back in, same problem..
any idea as to what is going on??

When was the last time you changed the high and low pass fuel filters? Sounds like a fuel issue to me, could be a number of things. Filters are the quick try, after that I would be checking fuel pressure while the problem is happening and comparing it to when it is not.
 
I changed those I want to say about 3 years ago now.. haven’t really used it much.. I’ll check them and see if I see anything obvious..
