Hi All,

Just bought a boat/engine package used to replace a smaller tiller style dinghy setup we have. The engine is a Mercury 3hp 4 stroke EFI. Very nice engine. It is the original engine that was on the boat when sold to the previous owner new in 2010 as a leftover. I have the Certificate of Origin for the package. Don't recall if it listed the engine SN or not though, I'd have to look. The HIN on the boat shows 2009 as the model year.

Here's a pic of the engine tag from the transom bracket. It clearly shows 2010 as the year of manufacture, yet when I search on the Serial Number 0R341278, it comes up as a 2006. I can't imagine an engine was sitting around for 4 years and put on a boat. Maybe, but I doubt it. Why would the serial number come up as one year, and the tag show another? Was 2006 the first year this model was made, so basically 2006+ is all the same, but it's actually a 2010 engine?

Thanks!
