2000 Evinrude 50 hp 4stroke slow mode over heat

I have flushed engine, checked thermostat, replaced the impeller. Still
Overheating. Telltale is pumping. Weird thing though the telltale gets weaker
In forward, almost nonexistent at high rpm. Works fine in reverse. Also should mention this motor has a jet pump on it. Loosing my mind chasing this problem. Any ideas?
 
Look for a stuck poppet valve. This part is in the cooling system, near the thermostat, and opens when engine is running at high speed.
On the parts list, on the thermostat page, it is reference number 5.
 
the water pressure valve on my e50pl4ss evinrude according to seloc is in my gearcase, it is a jet pump motor so there is no gear case.
