Evinrude 100993s ignition coil

I have a '79 100993s outboard, and the original ignition coil number is 581998. I noticed several "replaced by" numbers, and the current number is 584561 (I think).

Will the 582508 coil, made for the '85 and up 100hp models, work on my '79?
 
Thank you. The spark plug post was broken off the coil, when I bought the boat, so it needs replaced. I found the 582508 coils to be much less expensive than the 584561.
