After changing 100% fuel lines
New draw unit from tank
Main line hose and connectors
Cleaned fuel pump and carbs...
New gaskets for bowls
She fly like a bird...for about 8 minutes.

Now running on one carb.
Okay...I missed something.

Well....I decided to buy complete rebuild
kits for all three carbs.

Will be here tomorrow.
Kits include everything.

Found that the problem is in the needles and seats.
Floats on 1 and three sometimes stick.
Magnifying glass told me why.

Seems that in the 9 years this engine sat...the needle valves
all developed an indented ring at the seat.
So this forms a swelling in the points of the needles.
Yes...they are a rubber or Teflon coated point.
Here in the Columbia Basin desert the temps get over 104°.
So...the engine and criticalparts within will bake and shape
flexible components. Turning the carb over to drop the needle
into my hand resulted in empty hand.
So...tweezers and voila.
Magnifying glass showed a tell-tall indention ring
around the needle end.
Well...$42...and 2 days mail order...kits include everything and
462 consumers out of 518 gave it a 5 star rated kit.
Give you all a shout when I return from the test runs.

Thanx for your help.
Also...I appreciate the tips on the Welch plugs.
I have a mechanical center punch which works great
for removing the plugs.

Now her is a hint from me to replace them:

Grommet and snap peen punch is approximately same size.
Yup...the ones I have are about 180/1000this smaller.

Finally...she flies again.
New CDI 113-1756 powerpack.
This engine got a new lease on life.
Practically rebuilt from lower unit up.
Only thing I didn't replace was rings bearings and reeds.
Since compression is at top specs and reeds all are closed...no need to tear into this area.
I posted a video here and on YouTube.
Thanks for all of your hints and advice. Your questions had me searching other not so obvious areas and were quite helpful in process of elimination.
Happy boating to all.

Well...it had passed through three different people before I took a chance on the project.
Just glad THAT part is over. Now that we have it running at top condition, I will be
Paying special attention to maintenance and preventative maintenance.
