spark plugs for 2000 225 Evinrude Ficht motor

I'm not mentioning any names but I was told by one of the guys who fixes EMMs that there is an NGK plug that works better than the Champions that Evinrude calls for. Her did not know the number off the top of his head and his mantra was "dude your EMM is broken, send it to me." which did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling. What other spark plugs has anyone used in their motor?
 
I got a customer that swears the Denso's run/last longer in his ficht......He even supplies them at 2 year service.
 
I had my champions out yesterday and they don't look bad. My biggest issue with them is that the lead thread always seems to be in the same two places making it tricky to index them.
