volvo 500a (1989) distributors

Hi, first post, but I've often used this as a knowlage base...

So, I have a pair of volvo 500a (think aq211 with breakerless ignition) in my Windy 8000. The engines are out at the moment whilst the drives etc are being refurbed. I have taken the opportunity to do some work on the engines whilst access is easier.

I'm thinking of removing the distributors and sending them to be refurbed and have noticed that the distributor body position is different on each engine. Both run well and are timed the same (approximately) on a timing light, so i assume they are just on a different tooth of the cam gear and the body is aligned to make up for that.

One Distributor has a much less stable advance at higher revs than the other and I'm hoping the refurb will sort this out and give a much better steady spark.

Any advice whilst I'm at it? (already doing risers, elbows and pds bearings)

Cheers

Simon
