Went out the other week and cruising on the plane the engine cut back to almost an idle, having to limp back to the marina.
Thinking it was a fuel line issue I initially changed the fuel line from tank to motor, went out the following week and same thing happened this time the motor surged up and back to low revs a few times on the way back.
During fault diagnosis I could not replicate the under load fault but there was a misfire at mid throttle.
Fault diagnosis carried out so far:
Fuel filters replaced.
Fuel filter diaphragms look ok (will take a closer look)
stator visual inspection and resistance check passed.
Timer assembly visual inspection and resistance check passed.
Spark plugs replaced.
HT leads replaced.
coil x3 resistance check passed.
Power pack volt check performed with peak volt adapter, volts did drop close to misfire.
it does seem like the only thing that is failing at present is the power pack... But it is pricey to replace if it is not the issue, can a power pack cause a fault like this, the engine felt like it was choking when driving.
