Eneusiis,
Well, I have the opposite opinion for several reasons.
The BF 225/200 has been sold since 2001, and they are probably the most (or one of the most) purchased big outboards in the world. So, the posts that you are seeing on this forum reflect just how many there are out there.
This Forum is also probably the most used forum for Honda owners. Internet searches on any particular BF 225/200 topic will most often be addressed by multiple posts on this forum.
The big Hondas are also most often used in saltwater, so we see the typical problems any outboard will have operating in saltwater. All of them have their saltwater issues – no exceptions.
Most boat owners don’t adequately maintain these engines, and they tend to lay them up for long periods of time. Both conditions will more often than not lead to operating problems.
My personal experience – I’m approaching 2200 hours on my 2007 BF 225. It has never failed me and continues to run like new. Having said that, I also recognize that there are some design flaws, especially in the early models. But there are no more, and probably less, than with competing brands.
