3.0 rough idle until operating temp

I have a 86 wellcraft 192 American that I picked up at the beginning of this year. The carb was rebuilt recently, but there is still an issue with idling from a cold start. When I first start it, I have to give it gas and let it get up to operating temperature (200F) before I can bring it back to idle and it will run properly.

if I bring it back down to idle before operating temperature, it will either die or run really rough. Any ideas?

Try getting the temp to 140 and it might run better. Have you replave the impeller or done any other service?

Haven’t done anything except carb rebuild, new alternator, and new intake/exhaust gasket. Is 140 an ideal operating temp for these motors?

put it this way, anything over 160 on a raw water cooled motor is dangerous ,mid 170`s for a fresh water cooled motor(heat exchanger)
