'85 2 stroke 40HP Yamaha

DESPERATELY looking for help, locating some info regarding the bearing carrier retainer ring. I've called every boat service/parts shop in my county, and no-one works on 2 strokes anymore. I'm willing to do the work myself but need some specialty tools, namely, a wrench to remove the bearing carrier retainer ring. Every search takes me to wrenches that look like they might work, but are specified for mercruiser and mercury motors. I've only seen 2 that are "specified" for a Yamaha outboard my size, one is out of stock, the other is almost $200.00! Can anyone tell me if the mercruiser wrenches will fit? or give me a line as to where to get an appropriate wrench.....that doesn't cost more than a monthly payment on a new motor? I've tried to call the few shops that DO work on Yamahas, but no techs will even take the time to chat with me about said wrench.
