Greetings,

Was out on the water yesterday and while heading back to the launch the engine slowed on its own and died. Got it started again and this happened a second time. Engine has been running great, just not sure what would cause this. Any thoughts?

Test run with a portable tank !----Borrow one. ----Or is that not a good ( no money spent ) idea. ??----Does tell tale hose come off the side of the block ?----Or was it moved to the top of the block as per a service bulletin ?

Engines slow down and die because... average four of many are..........
It overheated and seized up. <-- No mention of overheating
Lost ignition (spark). <-- Possible
No fuel to engine. <-- Possible
Head gasket blew. <-- Not likely

Does your warning horn beep when you turn the key to the ON position?

Remove the Black/Yellow wire from the ignition switch. If this causes the problem to cease, replace the ignition switch.

If pumping the fuel primer bulb, acting as a manual fuel pump, cures the problem... suspect a fuel/air leak somewhere or a failing intermittent pump

Warning horn does beep when key is turned. Didn't think it was overheating as no warning horn came on.
Thinking loss of ignition or fuel.

Okay... Do the black/yellow wire removal thing in order to eliminate or determine a failing ignition switch.

Got out on a lake today and the boat ran fine. Cruised for a while with no stalling, trolled for 1.5 hours and cruised back to the launch with no issues.
So...problem solved or problem looming?
Thoughts gentlemen?

Can you elaborate on what was different out on the lake today ?----What if anything did you do ?----Did nothing and now it runs fine ???

Honestly, I did nothing different. When the problem started it stalled twice while cruising. It restarted both times although a bit sluggishly the first time. I was close to the boat launch after the second stall so just went in slowly. Did run some Seafoam engine treatment through it a couple of weeks ago. Is it possible that it did something?
