1971 mercury 800 thunderbolt needs help

I just got the new wiring harness 414-2770 installed and now I have no spark. Noticed the new harness has an extra wire. I am new to boats and any help would be appreciated.
 
Also dont really known if the wires are all in the right spot, the wires were basically uninsulated, a correct wiring diagram would be great too. I have the distributor with cap and rotor not coils.
 
Disconnect the mercury tilt switch and try again,then check the coil,dissy cap for cracks and the little spring loaded carbon brush in the middle
