I am having issues with my 50hp tohatsu and not sure where to start. I was out on the water the other day and the engine was running strong. Turned off the engine for a couple hours. When we were getting ready to leave I put the trim down and went to start the engine and nothing happened. I checked trim to see if I had power and it wouldn’t go up or down. Checked other electrical systems (lights, bilge, etc) and that all worked fine. It seems like I am not getting any power to the motor. I confirmed battery is charged. What could possibly be the issue?

We need your model. M50D2? MD50A? Makes a huge difference! Year is irrelevant.
Do you have 12v at the motor? Did you check for a blown fuse at the motor?

Hi Paul, the engine is actually a 2005 50 hp tohatsu model MD50B. I checked for blown fuse and they are all good. What is the best way to check for 12v at the motor? Could it possible be an issue with the ground? where is that located on the tohatsu 50's? I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Ground is at the starter housing. 12v is at the starter solenoid. There are 3 fuses; check all of them with an ohm meter.
