Hello, I have a 2014 90 HP EFI four stroke that the audible alarm for running out of fuel sounds

Hello How does the audible alarm work for low fuel and what triggers it to sound. it sounds periodically no matter how fast I am going. any help would be appreciated, already tried switching fuel tanks
