Floor repair materials and methods question

Hello, doing a patch repair on my fiberglass boat and am wondering.. Is there a good, better, best with this? I have already purchased Marine grade plywood (3/4) but do not have epoxy or fiberglass mat purchased yet.. Would it be best to treat the plywood with epoxy or some waterproofing before I lay fiberglass on it? If I would epoxy/waterproof then lay fiberglass should I worry about the floor being uneven as a result? Thanks in advance for any help!

I am going to tag on here as ask - what about the new plastic material that is used for window framing, garage door frames, etc? I've seen a couple brands out there. I am bringing a 1989 bass boat back to life and the only really soft area of the floor is the driver / passenger area and the space between where the drain is. I am thinking of just cutting a template and putting down the plastic. My dad said he did this on his old Bayliner a few years ago. Pros/Cons? I was originally thinking of sheet aluminum but its really expensive.
