Honda 9.9 Tiller to Remote Conversion

I'm replacing the outboard on my sailboat and found a great deal on a Honda 9.9 that I would like to buy, but it will only work for me if I can install the "Side Mount Control Box" part no. 24800-ZW9-830. I figured it would be an easy switch but I'm seeing lots of conflicting info that it can't be converted, or it can be with some additional parts or a conversion kit. I do not need any remote steering conversion as my sailboat has it's own rudder and tiller to steer the boat. I just need throttle and shift. Here is the info on the motor. If anyone could tell me if it's possible or not possible to install the side mount control box and what parts would be needed it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I just bought a 2008 9.9 four-stroke Honda Power Thrust with no controls. I am possibly looking to convert it to a tiller model. Did you buy the outboard?
