Hi everyone,
First post here.
I have an 86' Evinrude 9.9 that has some issues with the teeth of its tiller handle gear. Essentially they are stripped/broken, which makes operation unsafe. For reference, parts 16&20 in the attachment.
I have located a used tiller assembly including all parts up to and including part 20 to hopefully make the swap.
My questions are:
- assuming this is a relatively common problem with older units, is this fix fairly simple? Do I need any specialized tools for this (ie anything to remove specialized clips, bolts etc)
- Would I require any extra parts past #20? Are parts #3,4,19,22 and 20 all one unit, or are they separate to where I could connect #20 to my old parts mentioned.
Thanking you in advance.
Joel
