Mercury Classic 50 carburetor

I am making my first attempt to rebuid a WMA6-1 and 6-3 from a 1986 Classic Fifty. Not a mechanic but not completely a novice. I have everything cleaned out and am ready to soak it but I don't know how to remove the silver plug on the side or the brass set screw on the upper right. Both are sealed with the red thread lock. Do I need to remove those and if so how?
Thanks

Don't bother. Just clean her up good, as you have done, and blow it out good.

Jeff

PS: When she's all assembled, shake the carb and listen for the float rattling about inside. If you don't hear that, remove the bowl and sand away the casting flash on the floats. I've had aged floats tend to stick thanks to that flash and cause flooding.
