Braided Fuel Hose Replacement (For Johnson Carburetor)

Hi.

I need to replace a fuel hose that connects my two carburetors together, its part

"319733 - HOSE, Carburetor, upper to lower"

It was replaced by 0772571 (this one http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_details.php?pnum=OMC0772571)

I live in Sweden and would ideally like the part a bit sooner without hefty delivery fee from ebay/amazon etc, so I found this alternative:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/4mm-5-32-PETROL-DIESEL-FUEL-LINE-HOSE-PIPE-BRAIDED-/260465877615

Could anyone help to tell me if they thing this is a suitable replacement for that hose?

Thanks Ahead.

Jason

I believe the primary difference between marine and automotive application fuel hose is permeability and fire rating. You might find a fuel hose that meets your diameter then research the permeability of that line to see if it meets marine specs, specifically ISO 7840 standard.

Here is an article that talks about the ratings.

I hate to link to someone other than our sponsor site, but since you're across the Atlantic finding a closer vendor might best. Here is a link to Advanced Fluid Solutions in the UK. This looks to be the same shop as your Ebay link and is the proper ISO spec: https://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/marine-petrol--diesel-fuel-hose-a1--a2-iso-7840-92-c.asp

Thank you Kevin thats super helpful!

Unfortunately the Advanced Fluid Solutions link doesnt have any hoses in my size, I need 5/32 (or 4mm) they dont seem to stock that size.

I actually bought the ebay one I posted slightly earlier, so wondering if its up to spec. It says in the description "Approved ISO 9001: 2000",

It also says

NITRILE FUEL HOSE WITH COTTON / POLYESTER OVER BRAIDING"
Type B DIN 7337

And it states that it is suitable for "Unleaded Petrol, Leaded Petrol and Diesel Fuel"

Do you think its up to the job?

I'm not sure about the spec of hose you ordered. I've used fuel injection rated automotive hose on a jet ski before without any issues, but I can't say that's the correct thing to do.

So that hose I bought arrived but wasnt good enough, though the right size, it turned out not to be re-enforced so I dont really want to risk it.

Im struggling to find 4mm (5/32) hose that meets ISO 7840 standard literally anywhere in Europe.

Weridly all the hoses I can find, start from lowest inner diameter of 5mm (in rare cases) mostly 6mm. I wonder if there is some reason (eg some regulation thing perhaps) why it seems almost impossiby to find 4mm hose at that standard.

I may have to resort to ordering from the US and suffering the crazy postage and delay..

If anyone has any tips where I could find such a hose a bit closer to home (Sweden) I'd much appreciate it!

.......

I know it's an old post, but thanks for posting this link, as I need to find some fuel line for inside my 1982 Merc, and now I can see if auto fuel lines will be OK or not. Really don't want to pay $1 per inch of fuel line, but also don't want to catch my engine on fire. My lines are stiff and leaking a tiny bit (oozing at joints).
